The Grant Conservation District was founded in 1947. Since being formed the district has planted more than 2.5 million trees. Besides trees the district has also been involved in many water projects such as the Lake Farley Restoration Project, Upper Big Sioux Watershed, Whetstone Valley Creek Watershed, has written grants for the Mud Creek Dam at Revillo, and feedlot containment systems. The district also works with many partners such as Natural Resourse Conservation Service, National Fish and Wildlife Service, South Dakota Game Fish and Parks, and others. The Conservation District is governed by a board of 5 supervisors who meet monthly.
